Modernization of a Liebherr BW 20/20 double crane

The aim of the modernization was to optimize the control systems, sensors and operability of the cranes and make them fit for the future.

Measures implemented:

• New control system: The outdated PCB Logic Control has been replaced by an ultra-modern one programmed by us. IFM control replaced.
• Modernized communication: Introduction of a CAN bus systemwhich enables precise synchronization between the cranes and significantly increases the efficiency of the control system. Analog signal transmission has been completely replaced.
• High-precision sensor technology: Integration of specially developed Rotary encoder with cam limit switches for hoist, luffing gear and slewing gear, ensuring maximum safety and efficiency.
• Improved ease of use: Installation of a Touch panels and new Joystickswhich make operation considerably easier. Settings that previously had to be laboriously made using potentiometers can now be adjusted directly and intuitively via the panel.

Result:
With these modernizations, we have not only optimized the functionality of the cranes, but also significantly increased their reliability and future-proofing. The cranes are now ready for the challenges of the modern shipping industry.
