Project

Cabin modernization of an offshore crane in the North Sea

Info & pictures

Customer: One Dyas
Crane type: Bailey DHOC 2100/15×15
Project period: 2024

Project overview

As part of a challenging project, we replaced the driver's cab of a 38-year-old, explosion-proof Bailey DHOC 2100/15x15 offshore crane in the North Sea.

The aim of the modernization was to adapt the crane to current safety and performance standards and to optimize its functionality for demanding offshore operations.

Measures implemented:

  • New driver's cab: Installation of a modern driver's cab with improved safety and functionality features, specially developed for use in harsh offshore conditions.
  • Load display system on HMI panel: Integration of a state-of-the-art load display system that precisely visualizes the maximum and current load, thus ensuring the protection of the operator and machine.
  • Modernized Beckhoff CX5130 control system: Replacement of the old analog instruments with modern sensors. The data is now clearly displayed on an HMI in the cab.
  • Improved motor control: Replacement of the cable-operated speed controller with an electro-hydraulic proportional valve that enables more reliable and efficient control.
  • ATEX conformity: All installed components meet the strict requirements for explosion-protected environments (Ex).

Result:
Thanks to this extensive modernization, the crane now meets the highest safety and performance standards and is ideally equipped for use in the demanding conditions of the offshore industry. This project illustrates our commitment to sustainably improving even older systems through innovative solutions and state-of-the-art technology.
